Date and Time: Saturday, May 27th, 2006. Tee times start at 9:12 AM. The cost is $70.00 which includes green fees & golf cart, use of the driving range one hour prior to the event and scoring. Beverage cart drives around constantly and there is a grill at the 8th hole.
Format: The outing will be played in a Captain’s Choice format. Each golfer is allotted one mulligan for the round which cannot be transferred. There will be two contest holes: longest drive, and closest to the pin. Each golfer must contribute at least three drives for the round. Additionally, on the first tee, the shortest drive of the group will have to wear a ridiculous hat at the Luau.
Dress: There is a dress code. METAL SPIKES ARE PROHIBITED. If you have metal spikes please show them to me since I’ve never seen any. Then plan to take them off. Jeans, t-shirts, tank tops and cut-offs are unacceptable. Collared shirts must be worn at all times. Rules and regulations will be strictly enforced. Violators will be laughed at and then asked to leave. You are encouraged to wear traditional attire which highlights golf’s rich history. (Kilts, plus fours, Paine Stewart hats, etc.)
Weather: If bad weather threatens the event, please call my cell for a recorded message with updated news and/or instructions. If you want to contact a human after listening to the recorded message, call Dan Lyons. We intend to play even in less than perfect weather (since I paid a significant deposit and they will refund only if they close the course). In any case we will have a great time!
Club Rental: Don’t want to lug your golf clubs to the Cape? You can rent some from the pro shop for $30. They have only four sets so please let me know ASAP if you want to rent and I’ll try to reserve a set for you.
Payment: Cost is $70 per golfer (add $30 if you have arranged to rent clubs). Payment will be collected on the morning of the event. Checks should be made to: Dave. I’m pretty sure I know where you all live so don’t make me come after you.
Carpooling: You are invited to get yourself to the course on your own or meet us at Falmouth Town Hall parking lot (main street, look for my maze and blue Michigan “M” flag) and we will carpool to the course. Please note that the course is about 20 minutes away (back up Rt 28) so plan accordingly. The carpooling caravan will depart the Town Hall parking lot promptly at 7:45 AM.
Afterwards, we will gather at the scoreboard for some refreshment, to tell of our feats on the course and to award prizes.
